Fantastic analysis for the US. Agree that it's a solid point on DEI in corporate/university life, too, which I hadn't considered before. Keep the incompetent middle management in place because they will be the willing puppet of those above.

But given the corruption in India, China, elsewhere, I'm not convinced that the 'appeal to high agency people' is the strategy for ascending nations. I'm not even convinced El Salvador is an example of that. Usually, the strategy to attract rich people is the same-- giving stuff via tax breaks. Where have you seen the 'appeal to high agency people' work?

thanks man. those are fair counterpoints.

part of why China has been so successful has been a rather effective implementation of capitalism. it has the most billionaires in the world. it has many huge tech companies created there within the last 20-30 years. it did not get their via increasing its focus on socialism or by discouraging people like Jack Ma, but rather by providing some degree of property rights and rules, that enabled a guy like that to build.

it has not become a powerhouse by adopting low-agency emphasis, but rather high-agency enablement.

another great example would be the founding of the US. absolute peak high-agency appeal, the entire government was founded around the ethos of "fuck off you make everything worse. so we're going to hamstring you as much as possible so the private sector (high agency men) are mostly driving things". they limited voting to high-agency heuristics. stuff like that.

El Salvador is on the right path I hope. too early to tell.
